What parts is a dental implant made of?
A dental implant is not the visible tooth you see at the end of treatment, but the internal structure that acts as an artificial root to support the prosthesis.
It is made up of three fundamental elements that work together to offer you a long-lasting and natural result:
- Implant: It is the main piece and the true “dental implant”. This is a titanium screw that is inserted into the jawbone or jawbone using a surgical procedure. This part acts as the root of the missing tooth and fuses with the bone thanks to a process called osseointegration.
- Abutment: It is the connection between the implant and the crown. It is placed over the screw once the bone has healed and the implant has been properly integrated. Its function is to support the final prosthesis.
- Dental crown: It is the visible upper part of the implant, which ultimately simulates the natural tooth. It is made of resistant and aesthetic materials such as porcelain or zirconium so that it resembles your natural teeth in color and shape. Although it is what you see, it is not the implant itself, but the functional and aesthetic part of the treatment.

What is immediate loading and guided surgery?
Immediate loading and guided surgery are two of the most advanced techniques in dental implantology that allow implants to be placed quickly, accurately and comfortably. Thanks to these innovations, patients can regain their smile and functionality in less time and with a much safer procedure.

Step by step
This is how we perform a dental implant treatment
First visit
During this initial visit, we carry out a detailed assessment of your oral health by: review, diagnosis, treatment plan, tailor-made budget and all the necessary complementary tests (orthopantomography, 3D CT, intraoral scan and intraoral and extraoral photographs). This consultation allows us to discuss your needs and expectations, to determine if implants are the best option for you.
3D intraoral scanner and treatment plan
We use a state-of-the-art 3D intraoral scanner to create an accurate image of your mouth. From this image, we design a personalized treatment plan, ensuring that the implant will be placed in the optimal position for the best results. The plan includes the simulation of how the final prosthesis will look.
Dental implant placement
On the day of surgery, the dental implant (a small titanium screw) is inserted into the maxillary or jawbone under local anesthesia. In complex cases, it can be performed with conscious sedation for your comfort. This phase is rapid and minimally invasive, as we use computer-guided surgery for maximum precision.
Osseointegration
After the implant is placed, the bone needs between 2 to 4 months to fully integrate with the titanium. During this time, the implant naturally fuses with the bone, providing a solid foundation for the placement of the final dental crown. In some cases, a temporary prosthesis is placed to maintain aesthetics during this process so that you do not run out of teeth.
Definitive crown placement
Once the implant has been completely integrated with the bone, we proceed to the placement of the final crown. This personalized prosthesis, designed to blend in with the rest of your natural teeth, is fixed on the implant, giving you back the functionality and aesthetics of your smile.
Overhauls and maintenance
After treatment is complete, regular check-ups are essential to ensure long-term success. During these visits, we monitor the condition of the implant and gums, and advise you on oral hygiene to ensure that the implant remains in optimal condition.
